Our last day in Scotland was a bit of a morning blur. Half of our day was spent exploring The Palace of Holyroodhouse and the other half was traveling to Dublin, Ireland; the traveling part of adventuring is exhausting but exciting and then you end up in a new spot you’ve never visited before.

Craigmillar Castle

The fourth travel journal entry finds Kate and I adventuring slightly out of the city of Edinburgh to Craigmillar Castle, then back to the city for some pints and dinner.

This entry doesn’t have a lot of detail but we did spend the whole day exploring the castle so I got a lot of photos and a few shaky iPhone videos. And I also got the informational booklet to help me remember the tiny details of the Castle.

Exploring Edinburgh

The third entry of my adventures in Edinburgh makes up the first full day of my trip to Scotland, including touristy things such as the Edinburgh Castle, lunch and a Whiskey Experience, a visit to the Tartan Weaving Hall, a stop at the Elephant House and wandering around the city to find Greyfriars Bobby and St. Gary’s Cathedral.

Edinburgh is a truly wondrous city with lots of history and culture, and I definitely would not mind visiting again.

In reading through my travel journal, Kate and I definitely did a lot on our first day!

Haunted Mansion 50th Anniversary Tea

The Haunted Mansion at Disneyland turned 50 this year and to celebrate, the creative masterminds behind the Classic Afternoon Tea, Treat or Tea and Mickey’s Tea Party Celebration decided to make this year’s fall tea season at the Resort revolve around one of it’s most beloved attractions.

As soon as I heard that this was going to be the newest theme, I knew that it would be one of the hardest afternoon teas to try to snag a reservation. As the fall months approached, my friend Jennifer woke up at the ungodly hour of 3:00 AM several mornings in a row to try to get us a reservation. She finally succeeded in securing a reservation on the last day of the tea, November 3rd.

An Evening with Alan Menken

With this year’s D23 Expo upon us, I wanted to share one of the more memorable experiences that I had during that last Expo in 2017: a performance by Alan Menken.

The beginning pages of the 2017 Souvenir Guide listed all of the major panels and events that were taking place in Hall D23. Alan Menken’s show was listed on Sunday, the last day of the Expo, and I read the description to pass the time as I waited for other things.

Disney aficionados, film buffs and musical theater fans can expect a show like no other when eight-time Oscar-winner Alan Menken performs his own music and share entertaining anecdotes about his unrivaled career.

In all honesty, I hadn’t paid much attention to it for most of the weekend as I was too busy trying to get into the panels during the first two days.

However, when Sunday rolled around, I was singing a different tune.

Arrival in Edinburgh

This second entry of my adventures begins in Edinburgh and is a mixture of complaining about travel, and my first foray into Scottish food. My first post was written back in Summer 2016, when I actually took the trip; I misplaced and then thankfully found my travel journal so I can continue sharing my adventures.

Looking back, I will remember how exhausted I was yet brimming with excitement at being in a new city in a new country with my best friend. I wasn’t nervous anymore; in fact my nervousness had all but evaporated and my curiosity at being in a new place was taking over, which is something that I have happily found to becoming a more common reaction whenever I am traveling to a new undiscovered place.

An Evening of Candlelight

Last weekend, I had the privilege of attending the first evening of Disneyland’s Candlelight Ceremony and Processional that is hosted every Christmas season.

I’ve known about this Disneyland tradition since I started working for the company and have made my way down a packed Main Street during past shows but this was the first time I got to sit and appreciate the show in its’ entirety.

The only words that feels fitting to describe the show is gorgeous and peaceful. Visually, it is a spectacle and the feeling of peace and contentment I felt during the show is one that I have been carrying with me for the holiday season.  Afterwards, I was inspired to find out more about the history of the show and wanted to share my personal experience with you.

“Trick or Tea” at Disneyland

Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort is always a fun season to visit the parks. The Disneyland Hotel started hosting a Halloween-themed tea a few years back, which is a nice twist on their popular Classic Afternoon Tea.

I thoroughly enjoyed my last Disneyland afternoon tea. I had heard that this year’s Halloween theme showcased the Disney Villains and couldn’t wait to see what little details were added.

So, my friends and I dressed up in our Fall Finest and headed on down to the Disneyland Hotel for our Saturday reservation.

The Raymond 1886

The best way to experience a new place to eat is when you find it unexpectedly.

Spontaneously.

Such was the happenstance as when my mother and I intended to visit Universal Studios Hollywood but found ourselves at The Raymond 1886 instead.

A grand plan turned into a smaller still grand plan, an enjoyable lunch and finding a neat little place that showcased a bit of Pasadena’s history.
